Easy tips to get rid of itchy scalp

During monsoon, unexpected rains can spoil your tresses with damp and moisture. This not only gives you a wet feel all day long but also makes your scalp gross. During monsoon the scalps is already prone to moisture and sweat due to humidity which leads to itchiness which might quite be awful in public. Itchy scalp is caused due to dandruff, poor diet, poor hair care and fungus or viral infections during the season.

There are easy home – made remedies by Dr. Pankaj Aggarwal, that can be bring into use to get rid of the itchy scalp during monsoon.

Tea Tree oil – with its powerful natural anti-fungal, anti-inflammation and antibacterial properties, tea tree oil is beneficial to treat itchy scalp. One can use tea tree oil in various ways, by adding 10 to 20 drops of tea tree oil to one-half cup of baby shampoo and use it daily until the condition of your scalp improves. Another remedy tried is to dilute two or three drops of tea tree oil in one tablespoon of edible oil and massage the mixture onto your scalp. With regular use, this remedy is considered best in treating a dry, itchy scalp within a week or two.

Lemon juice – enriched with antiseptic properties, lemon juice is easily available to treat scalp itchiness and is assumed best in getting rid of the dandruff. One can simply apply fresh lemon juice thoroughly onto their scalp. Leave it on for five minutes and then rinse your hair with shampoo. If you do not have dandruff, then dilute the lemon juice in water or yogurt and apply it on your scalp. Leave for a few minutes before washing your hair with a mild shampoo. Repeat the process at least daily until itchiness and dryness disappears.

Baking soda – commonly available ingredient in kitchen that can relieve you from an itchy scalp is baking soda. It puts an end to itching by exfoliating the scalp and controlling dandruff caused by overactive fungi on head. One needs to simply make a paste with baking soda and water and apply it directly onto their scalp. For best results, apply little olive oil on your scalp before applying the baking soda paste. Allow it to soak into your scalp for about 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse well with water.

Aloe Vera – available in almost every house, Aloe Vera gel contains moisturising properties, which may help your scalp regain its natural health. Aloe Vera is known to reduce excessive dryness and itching. If one cannot fetch a fresh aloe, in that case one can buy the gel. Method is easy – spread some fresh aloe vera gel onto your scalp massaging with your fingers. Allow it to nourish your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse your hair with a mild shampoo.

Coconut oil – it is easily available in every household. Coconut oil creates a mineral layer that helps keep skin moisturised and hence it is an effective way to treat an itchy scalp. Simply rub a little coconut oil onto the scalp after washing your hair your scalp when it is clean. Leave it on for at least half an hour and then wash it out with a mild shampoo. Follow this easy remedy three times a week. Another option is to gently heat coconut oil so that it melts, add it to your shampoo before washing your hair that will your scalp healthy and itch – free.

Jojoba oil – with its great natural moisturising quality of rejuvenating and hydrating the tresses, jojoba oil is best suitable for treating a dry and itchy scalp. Massage a small amount of jojoba oil onto your scalp for a few minutes before going to bed. Leave it on overnight. In the morning, wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Repeat this remedy once a week to see improved results.
